What if the biggest thing holding you back isn't your skills, your team or your circumstances, but the unhealed wounds inside of you? In the next few minutes, I'm going to reveal how your hidden triggers can either destroy your leadership or become the rocket fuel that launches you toward an extraordinary success. See, this isn't just another motivational talk. This is your personal blueprint for transformation. Are you ready to turn your biggest limitations into your greatest strengths? All this and more coming right now. Here we go.
I want to talk to the leaders out there, both current and in the making. Have you ever wondered if you're a good leader? Have you ever wondered how to get the stream of life headed in your direction, or even back in your direction, if so, here are a few thoughts that I teach people on leadership across my different communities and my consulting practice. So I'm hearing the word triggered thrown around quite a lot these past few years, and I do think I understand what people are trying to express here, but let me attempt to help you as a brother that's on the path with you. So first off, why does this even matter? You see, when negotiating, when leading, when building important relationships and decisions, your response may make the difference between you asking, How could this have happened and I'm so glad that it happened too often, when someone feels triggered, the belief is that this is a neurological response to an upsetting experience or an upsetting piece of information. Okay, sure, most of us already know that part, but if you can agree that your triggers point to your traumas, then perhaps there is something we can explore together to become better parents, friends, leaders, employees and just better people down to our souls. So a triggering event is really never fun to experience, but perhaps a better understanding of what is happening inside of you can help you turn this into a moment of triumph as you go deep and explore inward. So let's break this down so we can use this to absolutely crush it in life.
So when one is triggered, it does a couple of things, one, it exposes you to deeper parts of yourself that you may need to heal. And two, it stimulates the nervous system to anticipate the appropriate rations of sending internal resources, be it mental, physical, spiritual, or whatever, the nervous system has been shown that it is more anticipatory in nature. It takes information in and your mind processes that information to make a decision to do whatever it needs to with that information. But here's the issue, if you have broken or unresolved pieces inside of you, that anticipation response gets wildly distorted, and therefore you end up dealing with a faulty response, and, worse, a faulty action. So let me give you an example. Let's say you're leading a team and someone is seemingly not performing to your standards too often, leaders can kill or alienate their team or an entire company. When this is observed, the observation triggers a response in the nervous system that says something needs to change. But what comes next is your mind comes back and asks, What and how will this change occur and this, my friends, is the exact moment that you'll either rise or fall as a leader. So let's say you have a long memory of people disappointing you, and you ruminate about it all the time, or maybe even just as a kid, you had to unfairly fix everything, and you've not done that work in any of those scenarios to heal that broken piece of you. What happens is your body wants to send resources to fix what's going on as a leader, but it's coming from a broken part of you. Can you see how this is happening, then you come forward rebuking your team, your direct reports on how you always have to do everything, or you're surrounded by idiots or incompetency, right? You're not fun to be around, and to be honest, you're not being a great leader, when, in reality, what's going on is the wounds of your past are distorting a proper use of your emotional resources. Your old wounds end up bleeding all over people who never cut you in the first place. See, this is the moment you must go into yourself and realize that you will repeat what you don't repair. So what happened to you? It's not fair, it's not right, and it's not your fault, but it is your responsibility to respond in a way that moves things forward towards success.
So let's go even deeper. What successful decisions come down to is a function of one, a healthy perception of our internal projections, right? So make sure that the information, when it gets shot back out, it's gone through a lens that's not broken, nothing is distorted. Two, a healthy internal resource of say, mental energy, peace time, physical strength, empathy, love, generosity, playfulness, whatever. Three, a proper application of those internal resources and through the lens and projections and meanings that are triggering or empowering. So if you find yourself in reactive mode all the time or just more instead of being more responsive, ask yourself this, how do I become a better leader, and how do I lead myself in a triggering world? That keeps pushing me toward burnout.
Well, my friends, because I love you, I have some advice. Number one, prioritize the time to acquire mental, spiritual and physical resources, be it through meditation, exercise, reading, date nights, time with your kids. Just make sure that you remain connected to source. Two, decide that you will refuse to be a victim and you will own every outcome, every lesson, every call not made, every boundary not set in your life, all of it own, all of it. Number three, commit your to your own success by deciding that you'll work on projecting situations accurately so that your resources are properly leveraged to lead you and those that care for you toward victory. You see this is all of our responsibility to heal and to be better leaders, not just for peace but for your prosperity. Most of my greatest wins have come down to the smallest decisions that all came from a proper response and a rollout of internal resources that happened in a second or less. So if you aspire to be a great leader or just simply improve the quality of your life. Stop playing the blame game and being a victim. Avoid this like the plague, and just know that if the stream of life isn't going in the right direction, remember, quit trying to change the direction of the stream. A stream only adjusts its direction according to the ground on which it passes. So do the internal groundwork and watch the stream of success start running to you faster and more abundantly than you could have ever imagined. All right, that's enough for me. Leave your comments below. Let me know how you're doing the groundwork so the stream of life moves in your direction. You do these things, and you too will be well on your way in your pursuit of Making Billions.
